Getting started

How do I install Margen?

Install the Margen Chrome extension from the Chrome Web Store. Once installed, open any Google Doc and click the Margen icon in your browser toolbar to open the side panel.

Why does Margen need access to my Google Docs?

Margen reads your document text to generate editorial feedback. We request the minimum permissions needed: drive.file scope to read documents you've opened with the extension. We do not access documents you haven't opened with Margen.

How do I connect my Margen account to the extension?

Open the Margen side panel in Chrome, click 'Sign in', and sign in with your Margen account. The extension will stay connected until you sign out.

Comments and suggestions

Why did Margen skip some comments?

Margen skips a comment if it cannot reliably locate the target text in the document — for example, if the phrase appears multiple times and the occurrence is ambiguous, or if the document changed during insertion. Skipped items are shown in the completion screen.

Margen paused during insertion. What happened?

Margen pauses if it detects that you clicked into the document during the automation process. This is a safety measure to prevent inserting comments in the wrong location. Click 'Resume' in the side panel to continue.

Can I undo comments Margen created?

Yes. Google Docs comments can be resolved or deleted like any other comment. Suggested edits can be rejected. Margen does not lock or protect any content it creates.

Billing

How do I upgrade my plan?

Go to your account billing page and select a new plan. You'll be taken to Stripe Checkout to complete the upgrade.

How do I cancel?

Go to your account billing page and click 'Manage subscription'. You can cancel from the Stripe customer portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your billing period.

I was charged but can't access my plan features.
